After lunch, the main speaker was horticulturist and gardener Christine Walkden, who many of you know from TV shows like Christine's Garden, Gardener's World, The One Show and Gardener's Question Time on radio. She gave us an entertaining talk about the " The Life and Times " of Christine Walkden, from the age of ten when she first obtained an allotment and started growing vegetables and flowers, which she sold to her school teachers and neighbours. On leaving school her first job was with a local parks department before going to the Lancashire College of Agriculture. To becoming a TV presenter with her own gardening series " Christine's Garden".
